Our History

The Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority leads Dubai’s environmental and climate agenda and plays a pivotal role in protecting the environment and promoting sustainability. Established under Law No. (11) of 2024, the Authority works to mitigate and adapt to climate change impacts in alignment with the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategy. It also focuses on biodiversity conservation, protection of terrestrial and marine environments, food security enhancement, transition to a circular economy, and sustainable resource use—consistent with local and national environmental targets, Dubai’s D33 Economic Agenda, and the UAE Green Agenda 2030.
The Authority’s strategic objective is to foster a shared culture of environmental and climate action to achieve lasting impact, contributing to Dubai’s prosperity through integrated environmental performance and responsible development. DECCA bases its decisions on data-driven, science-based policies and strengthens strategic partnerships through collaboration with government entities, the private sector, academia, and the community.
